Importance of Specialised Women’s Health

Taking care of women’s health is more than just treating their symptoms. It’s about supporting women through every stage of life and promoting long-term wellbeing. From periods, fertility, pregnancy, antenatal care, and family planning, having access to specialised care helps patients feel heard, supported, and in control of their health.

Besides that, women may also face increased risk of conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, endometriosis, or complications related to pregnancy, particularly when certain risk factors are present. It’s important to talk to a GP or a specialist who thoroughly and personally understands these risks and recognises what is normal.

Unfortunately, studies from the Department of Health, Disability, and Ageing show that 2 out of 3 women experience bias or discrimination in healthcare. This can increase anxiety, delay diagnosis, and affect mental health and physical well-being. This is why the experienced team at Soleil Health Medical Centre is committed to providing a welcoming, respectful space where every woman’s health concerns are taken seriously, explained clearly, and managed with evidence-based treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of doctor is best for women's health?

It depends on your health concerns. We have a team of specialists, including a GP, a gynaecologist for reproductive and menstrual health, an endocrinologist for hormonal conditions, a pelvic health physiotherapist for pelvic floor concerns, and a sexologist for sexual health and wellbeing. Working together, our doctors and allied health professionals make a real difference in patient care.

Is seeing a gynaecologist covered by Medicare?

Yes, Medicare may cover part of the cost of gynaecology consultations, tests, and procedures when you have a valid GP referral. Our team can help explain billing, access, and referrals.

Do you need a GP referral for gynaecology?

In most cases, a GP referral is required to see a gynaecologist, especially if you wish to access Medicare rebates. Our team can help you contact the right provider and organise your next appointment.

Are you bulk billed or private billing?

We operate as a private billing centre. Payment is required at the time of consultation, with Medicare rebates (if applicable) applied afterwards. See our fees.
